February 8, 2002—Meridian Project Systems (MPS), a provider of software and e-business project management solutions, announced the opening of its European branch and appointment of Klaus Heffels, former vice president of Parametric Technology Corporation as its managing director for Europe. The new office, located in Dsseldorf, Germany, will serve as the hub of MPS European business.
MPS selected Germany as the location for its European center of operations based on the country’s high-volume construction industry. Germany is the world’s third largest construction market, following the U.S. and Japan. To maximize its value to this key market, MPS translated its software and web-based construction management products into German and secured ASTA Development as its primary European dealer. ASTA is Germany’s leading distributor of construction project management tools, with four offices supporting more than 5,000 customers and 15,000 licenses in German-speaking countries.
