Meridian Systems and Horizontal partner on BIM and capital project technology

October 3, 2008—Meridian Systems, the Plan-Build-Operate technology solutions leader for project-based organizations, announced a new Independent Software Vendor (ISV) relationship with Horizontal LLC, a leader in technology planning, Building Information Modeling (BIM) and implementation services.

Horizontal brings value to architecture, engineering, construction companies and building owners through information modeling and management solutions. By integrating BIM with construction project management and infrastructure lifecycle management (ILM) solutions, project stakeholders can realize business value across the entire project lifecycle and gain new efficiencies for the organization.

For any project, BIM provides a complete lifecycle perspective of design and spatial data, while ILM provides a complete lifecycle of operational business data. Integrating BIM and ILM across multiple touch points creates business value by reducing costs and schedules in the planning, building, and operating of capital projects and facilities, the companies say.

The Horizontal Glue Server is a Web-based BIM solution that allows bi-directional data flow between BIM models and Meridian solutions, including Prolog and Proliance software. In combination with Meridian solutions, the Horizontal Glue Server provides a centralized approach for achieving true Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) by allowing bi-directional data flow between all participants on a construction project. Meridian and Horizontal have already completed an integration between BIM models and Proliance scope documents via the Glue Server.

More information on how project management software can integrate with BIM models has been detailed in a white paper published by Meridian, titled, “BIM and Project Management: Advancing Integrated Project Delivery on Capital Building Programs.” To download the paper, see the Web site.
