December 19, 2005—Met-Tile, Inc. has become an ENERGY STARR partner for its metal tile panel roofing system, which combines the popular look of tile with the high performance of metal, the company says.
The updated roofing line features a Super SeriesR 4800 Super CoolT architectural coating system in 10 colors. Manufactured by Specialty Finishes Company of Fontana, California, these coatings have solar reflectivity values ranging from 26% up to 67+%, meeting and in some cases greatly exceeding ENERGY STAR requirements, says Met-Tile. (For every 5% of added reflectivity, the roof is approximately 4 degrees F cooler in direct summer sunlight.)
Also, because roof surfaces stay cooler, they should be less subject to chemical and atmospheric degradation, resulting in longer service life, notes Met-Tile.
Products that meet or exceed ENERGY STAR requirements can help prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the US Environmental
Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy.
Met-Tile is sold through a network of roofing contractors and distributors. For more information, visit the Web site.
