August 8, 2001—MGE UPS Systems Inc., a provider of high-availability power solutions, recently announced that its ESV+ Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs) have met Hewlett-Packard’s testing and qualification process and are now officially certified by Hewlett-Packard. With this new certification, MGE’s ESV+ UPS series can now be sold by HP resellers on a worldwide basis.
The ESV+ series is well suited for protecting HP departmental and enterprise servers. The Pulsar ESV+ models offer superior power protection quality for medium-sized networked applications. In addition, MGE’s premium network-based power management software, Solution-Pac, is included for control and shutdown of servers and SNMP-managed devices.
ESV+ systems can provide up to forty-two minutes of back-up time to a departmental server and assure an automatic safe shutdown of critical devices in the enterprise environment. In addition, the line-interactive technology of the ESV+ units regulates high- and low-voltage events for optimum computer performance without depleting the battery. Line-interactive UPS systems such as the Pulsar ESV+ offer inherent performance advantages over typical off-line UPS systems, which do not regulate output voltage when operating on utility power, rendering them ineffective during brown-outs. In addition, each ESV+ model features MGE’s PowerShare for individual control of UPS output receptacles. PowerShare allows the UPS to shed non-critical peripherals in order to maximize battery backup time to the critical servers.
