Microfield’s EnergyConnect connects another Fortune 100 company

September 4, 2006—Microfield Group, Inc., which recently merged with Energy Connect, Inc. (ECI), has added another significant participant to its growing portfolio, the company has announced.

In May, ECI introduced its automated demand response solutions to a Chicago area Fortune 100 corporation facility manager. Area facilities of the corporation include the headquarters, regional offices, research labs and light manufacturing. The facility manager and ECI quickly identified which electric meters were associated with flexible loads that had potential for delivering services and which meters covered sensitive electric loads that would not be participating.

The corporation reviewed the opportunity and approved the program, just in time to assist the regional electric grid in managing the late July 2006 heat wave that set electric demand records throughout the country.

Using ECI’s Bid Manager Web interface, the facility manager reviewed progress on a daily basis and targeted hours it could reduce load through HVAC management and lighting controls for three selected facilities.

Microfield Group, Inc. supplies high value technologies and services to electricity providers and consumers. For more on the company, see its Web site.
