Microguard inorganic surface treatments improve HVAC efficiency, decrease corrosion

September 8, 2003—Florida-based Adsil Corp. is now commercializing its Microguard treatments—a surface treatment designed especially for HVAC systems to reduce corrosion and increase energy efficiency.

According to the company, independent tests have shown reductions in energy consumption of 13 percent or more in HVAC equipment treated with Microguard. The product has been shown to slow equipment deterioration from corrosion 30 to 50 percent. Microguard-treated aluminum HVAC fins have been in salt-spray chamber testing for more than six thousand hours with no visible corrosion damage.

Adsil says that, when analyzing total savings from energy efficiency, life extension, and reduced maintenance costs, a typical payback period for Microguard treatment is less than eighteen months.

The treatments are readily field applied to new and existing equipment.
