April 15, 2005—Milestone Systems’ new XProtect Enterprise 5.5 offers an array of features for managing IP video surveillance, including the ability to view live or recorded MJPEG and MPEG4 video onscreen at the same time and from remote locations, the company says. Milestone says XPE 5.5 is a high-performance, flexible solution, ideal for larger installations and multiple sites.
XProtect Enterprise runs on single or multiple CPU systems with Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro, 2000 server, XP Pro, or 2003 Server. It can be sold with flexible multi-site licenses and any number of cameras, with support for a wide choice in IP hardware.
The system provides flexibility, with support for both MJPEG and MPEG4 from the leading IP camera manufacturers; Smart Search functionality; encryption and password protection of exported database recordings; and audit trail logs of user actions by time, location, and camera, notes the company.
XPE 5.5 also offers new ways to control PTZ cameras, including different patrolling schemes for different days, 50 Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) preset positions, joystick support, automatic pausing for manual movement, and PTZ zooming-in for more detailed investigation.
