Milliken Carpet, Commercial Markets, launches the Image Series Two and Three collections of 36-in. modular Image TilesTM developed in collaboration with designers from around the world. Many designs originate from custom projects and are being made available as inspiration for other custom carpets through the firm’s Image program. Other patterns represent the “best of the best” as selected by 145 designers in New York, Washington, Chicago, and San Francisco. The new collection consists of over 75 designs and are part of an ongoing Image program launched at last year’s NeoCon.
Each custom design is meant to support a company’s image, according to Richard Stoyles, director of design for Milliken Carpet, Commercial Markets. “Some have decidedly technological looks that are heavy metal and industrial age-inspired, using metallic colors and three-dimensional digital expressions. Others are more organic, based on intricate cell structures, stones, or water.”
To help designers interpret and reflect corporate culture in carpet, Milliken geared up its Millitron ImagingSM, a sophisticated dying technology that operates the most complex digital platform in textiles today. Millitron works from 52 million computer commands per second, to produce carpets with 400 color dots of dye per square inch.
