BOMA International and seven other national industry stakeholders, the majority of which are members of the “Get it Together” coalition, met in a “Public Policy Forum on Construction Codes Adoption” held December 16, 1999, in St. Paul. The Federal Emergency Management Agency and five leading model code development organizations also participated. The forum, endorsed by many key local organizations, was essential to expose regulators and legislators to the views of all the stakeholders before adopting codes for Minnesota.
Contrasting solutions to the code adoption choices were advanced by the model code organizations. BOMA and its coalition partners made unequivocal demands on behalf of the industry for a single, comprehensive group of codes. They urged the State of Minnesota to adopt the International Codes.
