November 21, 2001—The Riverside Municipal Museum in Riverside, CA, has broken ground on a new drought-tolerant demonstration garden that is intended to teach businesses and individuals how to use water-conserving landscaping techniques. The $120,000 garden is partially funded by the Southern California Metropolitan Water Districts Community Partnering Program and Riverside Public Utilities. It was designed on a pro bono basis by the Riverside-based landscape architectural firm RCB & Sons, Inc. During the past two years, the Community Partnering Program has given almost $1 million to organizations in southern CA that educate area residents about water conservation through programs such as ecology fairs, water-energy forums, environmental museum exhibits, watershed restoration projects and public policy conferences.
