MWW Group launches brownfield redevelopment practice

January 22, 2003—The MWW Group, a public relations firm, has announced the launch of the agency’s brownfield redevelopment practice. MWW’s practice will represent companies seeking to reuse former industrial properties. MWW will provide clients with a full range of services, including public affairs, community relations, influencer relations, consumer education, and government affairs expertise.

MWW has been hired to handle comprehensive public affairs campaigns for the following brownfield redevelopment projects:

  • EnCap Golf Holdings is a development company specializing in the design and construction of golf courses and associated amenities on brownfield properties. Founded in 1998, EnCap Golf’s vision is to turn 1200 acres of hazardous waste landfills located within the New Jersey towns of Rutherford, Lyndhurst, North Arlington, and Kearny into a 72-hole golf course resort.
  • OENJ Cherokee is a developer of brownfield sites in New Jersey. Reclaiming hundreds of acres of contaminated, derelict industrial land on waterfronts, OENJ remediates and redevelops the environmentally impaired assets using recycled materials, when appropriate, as a component of remediation. OENJ’s first project, a 166-acre Elizabeth, NJ, property which had been used as a former landfill for the City of Elizabeth, is today the site of the Jersey Gardens mall.

MWW will employ its proprietary DialogBuilder technology and SitingIQ services to plan public affairs initiatives on behalf of both clients. DialogBuilder technology will enable MWW to develop and implement a community relations campaign to educate consumers and mobilize support for brownfield redevelopment projects. DialogBuilder establishes two-way, custom-tailored communications between clients and the core constituencies of their target audiences. SitingIQ is a proprietary service that provides clients with accurate, up-to-the-minute information on local attitudes towards development, without divulging the client’s identity.
