The National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH) will meet in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 13-14 to review various aspects of occupational safety and health training. In addition to current OSHA and National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) activities, the committee will discuss the training of compliance safety and health officers, updates on the OSHA Training Institute and OSHA’s training grant program, and the status of NIOSH training activities and Education Resource Centers. Committee members will also hear a report on an October 1999 Training Conference and a report from OSHA’s task force on outreach activities. NACOSH was established under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to advise the secretaries of labor and health and human services on occupational safety and health programs. Members of the 12-person advisory committee are chosen on the basis of their knowledge and experience in occupational safety and health.
The two-day meeting will be held in Room N 3437 A-C of the Frances Perkins Department of Labor Building, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. The meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at approximately 4:00 p.m. each day.
