Smart Growth has become a hot issue in many communities. In response, the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) has added a Smart Growth Resource section to the Government Affairs. This section — found at http://www.naiop.org/legislate/growth/ — contains several areas pertaining to smart growth issues and resources, both on a national and a local or state level. The core principles of smart growth are also discussed.
One area includes an overview of smart growth initiatives in 15 major markets. Demographic, regional governance and infrastructure finance information are provided for each market. Growth management techniques and proposed legislation/initiatives are also discussed. Another area reviews federal activities relating to smart growth, including links to the web sites of various federal government agencies.
Plus, full-text versions of the Growing to Greatness manual and the newly-released The Flow of Money and Its Impact on Local Economies report are available online. The Growing to Greatness manual for Chapters and The Flow of Money are also available in hard copy from NAIOP.
