National Retail Federation showcases secure store at expo

May 9, 2007—The National Retail Federation (NRF), in partnership with Hybridia Design, will introduce its LP Secure Store at this year’s Loss Prevention Conference and Expo, scheduled for June 11-13 at the San Diego Convention Center.

The mock retail store will display technology elements from 12 participating sponsors that range from in-depth auditing tools to high-tech tags with magnetic detachers.

Other products being showcased inside the store include floor mat systems that detect booster bags and other metal cloaking devices, RFID, video analytic applications that detect customer traffic and video management systems that evaluate existing video footage.

“As thieves become more brazen, retailers must constantly evaluate new technologies to stay ahead of criminals,” said Joseph LaRocca, NRF’s vice president of loss prevention. “The technologies displayed in the Secure Store will give retailers information about the best ways to protect stores, merchandise and employees. Additionally, retailers will also discover new ways to connect with customers on a deeper level.”

Sponsors for the store to date include: Creative Options, Datavantage, Detex, Global Compliance, Lagard, Metro One, Motorola, National Guardian, RSS Partners, The Return Exchange, Universal Surveillance and Verint.
