November 5, 2004—The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) has awarded the GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification to National Office Furniture’s seating products and Kite Tables. The National office furniture was tested to the stringent GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Standards and proven to have minimal impact on the indoor environment. The GEI will continue to monitor National’s low emitting seating and tables on a quarterly and annual basis.
The US Green Building Council (USGBC) recognizes indoor air quality as a fundamental of good design. USGBC chose GREENGUARD Certification as the referenced requirement for low emitting office furniture in their Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System for Commercial Interiors. Building projects can earn Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 4.5 by using GREENGUARD Certified furniture like National’s upholstered seating and Kite tables. GREENGUARD has made the LEED-CI submission process simple with online printable certificates for all GREENGUARD Certified Products.
Products certified by the GEI help to significantly reduce indoor air pollution. Builders, architects, interior designers, specifying professionals, and consumers can use GREENGUARD Certified Products to create better interior environments. The Institute provides a free online guide to GREENGUARD tested and certified products to help those in the building/design industry and consumers locate low emitting products.
