April 4, 2003—The nation’s retail chains have named Entergy and Southern Company as offering the best overall electric company customer service in 2002. FirstEnergy Corp. was recognized for having the best new electric company customer service program. Awards for outstanding customer service by individual electric company National Accounts’ executives were presented to Barry Mosser of American Electric Power, Robert Mayo of Entergy, and Janet Booker of Southern Company.
The awards, presented during Edison Electric Institute’s Spring National Accounts Workshop, were part of the sixth annual Customer Service Awards’ program. Each year, the nation’s multi-site businesses recognize the electric companies who provide customer service levels and information that go beyond expectations. This was the fifth consecutive year that both Entergy and Southern have earned the distinction for best overall electric company customer service.
The retailers participating in the awards program encompass a wide variety of retail industries, and include such brands as McDonalds, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Staples, and The Limited. The winning electric companies were selected by staff that has direct contact with electric companies through activities that include energy procurement, billing, operations, design, and construction.
