Navy League headquarters is first green building in Arlington County

April 23, 2003—The Navy League of the United States—a non-profit, civilian organization dedicated to supporting the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and US-flag Merchant Marine—recently broke ground for its new headquarters building in Arlington, Virginia. This 214,000-square-foot building is the first building to be approved for construction by Arlington County as a “green building” and the first to be designated as such by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Green buildings, under USGBC standards, are specifically designed to reduce energy consumptions, reduce solid waste, improve indoor air quality, minimize strain on local infrastructure, and have overall fewer negative environmental impacts.
