October 31, 2005—Moore Square Museums Magnet Middle School recently won a national Impact on Learning Award for its urban architectural design from School Planning and Management magazine and the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI).
Little Diversified Architectural Consulting designed the 600-student school that covers a city block in downtown Raleigh, NC. Moore Square Middle School’s design and location encourage partnerships with local organizations and museums, helping revitalize the area.
The panel of judges described Moore Square Middle as “an excellent example of being an urban neighbor and a new concept in magnet-type schools. This example takes advantage of existing urban investment and reclaims urban land for a useful purpose.”
