NECA publishes new standard for installing and maintaining fire alarm systems

April 3, 2002—The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) recently published a new standard for installing, testing, and maintaining fire alarms systems. It is based on the requirements of the National Fire Alarm Code and is intended to be referenced in contract documents for electrical construction projects.

The standard—NECA 305-2001, Standard for Fire Alarm Systems Job Practices—is the newest addition to NECA’s growing series of National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS). It has been approved by the American National Standards Institute.

A PDF version of NECA 305 is available for a fee at the NECA online catalog.
