NEMA offers guidance for maintenance of dimmable fluorescent lighting systems

June 18, 2010—The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published LSD 23-2010 Recommended Practice—Lamp Seasoning for Fluorescent Dimming Systems. This white paper, last published in 2002, was produced by the NEMA Lamp Section.

LSD 23 makes recommendations for the commissioning and maintenance of lamps in dimmable linear fluorescent lighting systems to reduce flicker and other visual instabilities that are sometimes encountered. This revision features updated guidance on lamp seasoning to reflect changes in dimming practices and systems.

This publication, available for free download, joins around 40 other white papers in the NEMA LSD series, which covers a range of lighting topics. Other parts of the series cover subjects like ballast disconnects, occupancy sensors, and photoluminescent exit signage.
