May 2, 2018 — The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) recently published NEMA WT 1-2018, Wireless Communications Technology for Fire and Life Safety Systems, defining wireless technology currently available for electrical-based life-safety applications.
Denise Pappas, executive director, Technical Standards at Valcom, and chair of the Communications Committee of NEMA’s Fire, Life Safety, Security, and Emergency Communications Section, explained:
This paper was designed to give insight to consumers, installation companies, fire service personnel, building code officials, end users, fire protection engineers, electrical engineers — anyone interested in utilizing wireless technologies for life-safety applications.
The eight-page NEMA WT 1-2018 provides a brief overview of wireless technology currently available and how it impacts the life safety industry today.
