NeoCon ’03: Global shifts into gear with a chair called Ride and wins a Silver Award

June 27, 2003—-Ride, a new office chair by Global that received a Silver award, is so named because of the way the mechanism moves to ensure the chair constantly maintains contact with the user’s body. The chair’s fused frame becomes an integral part of the synchro-tilting mechanism. The new pivot points substantially change the sit or “ride” of the chair creating a sophisticated gliding feel to the chair’s operation.

Adjustments are easy to locate and use. Gearshift-type controls on either side of the seat are easy to see, and chair functions are accessible with a touch of the fingertip. The arm provides lateral, horizontal, and vertical arm adjustments. The arm swivels 360 degrees (in top position) so that it shortens or lengthens the armrest for larger or smaller individuals. This same action also simultaneously narrows or widens the available seat space to accommodate a larger or smaller body.

Back styles can be had in dimensional mesh, contoured upholstered plastic, and fully upholstered, all with adjustable lumbar support. There is also a contoured plastic back.

The Best of NeoCon program, held annually in June at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, is sponsored by Contract Magazine, The Merchandise Mart, and International Interior Design Association.
