June 27, 2003—Haworth’s new system of furniture, called Moxie, is light in scale, offering visual intrigue through translucent materials and partial divisions of space. Design details of tapered legs and circular lampshades recall, says Haworth, the comforts of home. For business needs, occupants can configure their workspaces to suit their tasks. They can move their work surfaces around and orient them to their tasks. Screens, banners, and toppers offer privacy; canopies provide shelter; accessories enhance efficiency.
Moxie starts with a stackable spinewall, which offers 90 and l120 degree transitions. The spinewall, a source for unlimited technology including Haworth’s plug-and-play modular cable system, offers a slat tile surface that supports shelves and accessories. A selection of work surfaces, shelves, and storage creates ergonomic logic for the occupant and unlimited options for the organization.
Translucent doors and dividers lend softly saturated color and suggestions of what’s going on behind. A range of finishes includes silver, champagne, and gunmetal metallic. Whites accent lampshades, scrims, and panels; wood trim addresses an upscale image. Haworth says that repeated and consistent use of materials and form offers an esthetic that ranges from the fun to the sophisticated.
The Best of NeoCon program, held annually in June at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, is sponsored by Contract Magazine, The Merchandise Mart, and International Interior Design Association.
