July 4, 2003—Lees Carpets turned to students of North Carolina State University’s College of Design for a new carpet collection called the rbn (pronounced: urban). Bright lights, loud cars, constant motion, and change: these are elements of city life that inspired the students for the new cutting-edge, technology-driven carpet collection.
Lees created rbn broadloom carpet as an alternative floorcovering product with high-impact esthetics. It is a collection of three multi-level loop textures available in a palette of 10 neutral colors that creates a kinetic color experience. The designs display a modern metallic look as the result of Lees’ exclusive Elumicolor carpet yarn.
The designs combine the creativity and expertise of undergraduate and graduate students who developed the initial designs for the Collection.
The rbn collection received a Silver award in The Best of NeoCon’s category Carpet: Broadloom. The competition is sponsored by Contract magazine, The Merchandise Mart, and International Interior Design Association (IIDA). NeoCon is held annually in June at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago.
