NeoCon ’03: SMARTdesks introduces flipIT that is both a desk and a computer workstation

June 27, 2003—When the user simply pulls out the keyboard/mouse platform, SMARTdesks’ flipIT mechanism opens to offer a 15- to 18-inch semi-recessed LCD monitor positioned within the user’s field of view. It is so positioned that students have a clear line-of-sight to instructor and classroom presentations.

When a clear worksurface is desired for traditional classroom tasks, the user simply pushes the keyboard platform in and flipIT safely lowers the flat panel monitor totally out of the way. The flipIT desks are designed to conceal and protect all wires to eliminate cable clutter. 3mm PVC edges provide durable, soft, and attractive protection.

flipIT workstations offer plenty of legroom, 20-in. wide keyboard platforms with pull-out mousing surface, and a CPU compartment large enough to handle all but the largest CPU cases. The workstations come in a variety of standard configurations and workstation widths. Multiple units are also available.

The Best of NeoCon program, held annually in June at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, is sponsored by Contract Magazine, The Merchandise Mart, and International Interior Design Association.
