NeoCon ’04: KI takes Gold Award for 360 classroom desk that rotates 360 degrees

June 18, 2004—Its innovation makes it truly flexible, because the desk rotates a full 360 degrees, allowing instruction from any point in the room. From a practical facilities standpoint, fully adjustable frames make specification easy. A school district can purchase one unit and configure it to accommodate a wide variety of users from first grade students to adults.

The 360 desk, says Barry Swanquist, KI’s vice president of education markets, represents a paradigm shift in teaching methods. The 360 desk allows instruction from any point in the room. A pneumatic cylinder gives students the control to set the seat height to their preference, while the seat swivel action enables students to track the teacher’s movement throughout the room without flexing their bodies.
