July 15, 2005—Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. (MMPI) has announced several key statistics for NeoCon 2005. In all, 46,352 people attended the show, up 10.8 percent from the year before. And an additional 50,000 square feet of space was needed to house more exhibitors than ever before, according to MMPI.
Seminar attendance increased by 10 percent, and Student Day brought in 1,800 future designers who were more actively involved with the show than ever before, participating in student exhibits, tours and a docent program, according to MMPI.
In addition, keynote addresses by prominent designers such as Bruce Mau and Hani Rashid of Asymptote were standing-room-only.
Three hundred and nineteen entries—40% of which were submitted by exhibitors from the temporary spaces—were submitted to the Best of NeoCon Awards competition.
