June 18, 2004—Teknion Corporation’s new universal overhead storage cabinet has a radiused front and offers a refined front door mechanism with an anti-slam feature when closing. The door fully recesses over the cabinet. It also has an extensive finish offering, with metal, wood, melamine, translucent plastic, a new perforated metal, and an erasable whiteboard.
A standalone panel system called Diet is slim at 1.3-inches yet sturdy. It is designed for high-density applications where space is a significant consideration, such as for raised floor applications and wireless environments. Self-leveling panel connectors accommodate any angle, include straight; 90-degree; three-way T; and 120-degree configurations.
An economical “soft wire” system of optional power, data, and communication is managed through a cable trough that snaps to the bottom of the panel. Diet is built with a 6-inch clearance between floor and bottom rail, allowing for the addition of a simple cable chase when required, and to promote air circulation.
New seating ranges from the Kim task seating with durable synchro-tilt mechanism that provides ergonomic support, ease of use, and simple access to all controls. The task chair and its companion side chair have upholstered seats and three back options—molded plastic, upholstered, and fully upholstered. The side chair has stackable metal frames that provide durability.
Other newly displayed chairs at The Merchandise Mart showroom during NeoCon are the Savera Task Seating, a mid-priced task chair with basic and enhanced ergonomic features. The Messina Series of wood side chairs are crafted from solid maple in four styles in numerous wood finishes and upholstery options. The Nami High-Density stacking chair has a back that flexes. The mid-range high-density stacking chair is geared for seminar, training, classroom, and healthcare applications—and also in cafeterias and bistros.
