NeoCon’05: Teknion seating uses Eco intelligent polyester fabrics

June 27, 2005—Teknion Corporation’s two new Eco Intelligent Polyester seating fabrics, Mardi Gras and Martini, were displayed during NeoCon at the manufacturer’s showroom in The Merchandise Mart. With Mardi Gras, Teknion becomes the first contract furniture manufacturer to introduce the multi-colored yarn-dyed Eco Intelligent Polyester fabric from Victor Innovatex.

The processes used to make Mardi Gras and Martini employ increasingly sustainable methods of manufacturing that require fewer dye chemicals, less water, and less energy. Mardi Gras and Martini follow the McDonough Brungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) cradle-to-cradle model of design and production that eliminates the concept of waste. Architect William McDonough of MBDC is widely acclaimed for his work in the theory of sustainable manufacturing.
