NeoCon’06: Steelcase focuses on healthcare through Nurture and wins a Gold Award

June 16, 2006—Making its debut by winning a Gold in the Healthcare Furniture category during NeoCon, Nurture by Steelcase is a new company focused on healthcare environments. Steelcase explains that Nurture products focus on three key groups: patients, caregivers, and partners in care. Each group has distinct needs within the healthcare environment and Nurture meets these needs with creative solutions inspired by the unique interactions between members of these different groups and their work environment, the company says.

Opus casegoods combine the convenience of traditional freestanding casegoods with the flexibility of modular furniture. The array of components combines in a multitude of configurations including storage, seating, display and even a sink unit. The design allows for flexibility to adapt over time to changing needs. Components are available in laminate and veneer with hardware choices to complement any décor.

The Nurture line also includes the Verge Stool, which a nurse can approach from any angle and exit effortlessly. The stool ring gives the user a place to rest feet while charting or completing other tasks. The steel framework is robust but lightweight enough to easily move and reposition without casters. Overrbed Table by Nurture has multi-uses: a place for patient meals and for use by doctors, nurses, and family to accommodate just about any need at the bedside. Nurture provides a standup table at the nurse’s stations; Move Multi-Purpose Chair that has a system of seat flexors under the cushion, and other use-specific components supplied by other Steelcase companies, including Steelcase itself, Details!, and Brayton.
