NeoCon’07: Allsteel re-introduces classic Revolt chair from Ahrend

June 22, 2007—Ahrend’s Revolt chair is a design classic, as refreshing to see as to sit in as when it was introduced throughout Europe in 1953. Now, having reintroduced the chair in Europe and the rest of the world, Ahrend, along with North American distribution partner Allsteel, is introducing it to America, as announced during NeoCon World’s Trade Fair, at Allsteel’s showroom in The Merchandise Mart, Chicago.

Revolt is a simple design, rich in detail. A large-scale, ergonomically contoured high-impact composite seat curves slightly upward at the sides, to gently and comfortably raise the sitter’s height. A concave seat pan follows the body’s natural curves.

The composite back is generously proportioned and curved to support the lower spine and torso. It flexes with the user, offering active support. Two formed sheet-steel rods, one per side, are firmly attached inside metal loops on the back. Rod bottoms are spot-welded to the rear of one-piece formed and curved sheet-steel legs, becoming an integral element of the chair’s design.

The Revolt frame is available in matte black or white, with seat and back infused with solid-color high-gloss black or white.

Royal Ahrend NV is based in The Netherlands. Its North American distributor is US-based Allsteel.
