NeoCon’07: Teknion’s Marketplace worktable wins Best of NeoCon Gold for Furniture Systems

June 20, 2007—Teknion’s Marketplace Worktable is a reinvention of the worktable, achieving an uninterrupted and unsupported span ideal for today’s team-based office environment, according to the company.

Winning Gold in the Furniture Systems category of The Best of NeoCon competition, Marketplace is designed around a lightweight triangular truss that creates open spans of up to 20 feet, said to be the longest free span in the industry. It accommodates eight to 10 people comfortably.

Marketplace was designed to accommodate employees who work in open spaces in close proximity to team members, such as financial traders and management consultants, multi-disciplinary teams, architects, designers, and other creative professions.

A canopy extending the full length of the table defines space and provides warm, glare-free light. The truss handles wire management needs and can be wired and rewired with ease, making Marketplace well suited for IT-intensive applications.

Designed by Carl Gustav Magnusson working with Teknion’s in-house design department, Marketplace assembles in 80 minutes per workstation, according to Kimball, and is quick to modify.

Marketplace was introduced during NeoCon World’s Trade Fair, held annually in June at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago.
