NeoCon’08: Davis introduces FENIX and LOOP chairs

June 20, 2008—Davis Furniture, a family owned and operated manufacturer of contemporary office furniture, introduced FENIX, an executive chair series with a high design attitude at NeoCon’08.

The FENIX chair, a Best of NeoCon Gold award winner for Ergonomic Seating, offers a sculptural profile created from a molded foam shell. The beautiful contours, flairs, and curvatures speak a clean and contemporary language, says the company This high design chair is perfect for the executive or conference environment.

Passive ergonomic features are built into the design for optimum comfort. The flowing form of the chair hugs the body for full support. Manfred Elzenbeck, a German engineer that developed both the Motion/Webb and Lucid/Body mechanisms, created a special mechanism for the FENIX chair called the Flex-Tilt Mechanism, which reclines under the user’s thighs, allowing the back portion of the seat and back to have a synchronized movement. This movement permits the body to flex, while the feet stay on the floor and the arms stay in the work position.

Also from Davis, the LOOP chair series, a Best of NeoCon Silver award winner in the Guest Seating category, has a one-piece shell that flows to form a flexible back with rigid arms. As you walk around this chair, which is constructed in polypropylene, you will see very different shapes and angles. An architecturally designed, steel frame forms a stable base to support this multi-purpose chair.

The LOOP series, also from Davis Furniture, has an architectural look suitable for many settings

The overall design aesthetic of the LOOP chair enables this product to be used in many environments. In the commercial applications it can be used as a side chair in private offices or open plan situations. It is a perfect dining chair for cafs or corporate cafeterias. Universities would enjoy the modern design in student unions or conference area. Because of the universal appeal of the design, the LOOP chair would also be very appropriate in residential settings as well.
