June 16, 2008—Highmark unveiled the office seating industry’s first affordable counterbalance line of chairs at NeoCon 2008, company officials announced.
The company launched the In Motion task seating line with InSync, a high-performance task chair designed exclusively for Highmark by Francisco Romero of Phidesign in cooperation with Leggett & Platt design and engineering.
Featuring Body Balance, a weight-activated counterbalance technology, InSync conforms to the user’s body and continually adjusts itself with every movement or change of posture and balance. Since it self-adjusts, InSync eliminates human error, thereby reducing workplace injuries and stress. Its unique design ensures the user is in the correct position and remains ergonomically supported.
InSync features an adjustable lumbar, created by Romero for Highmark, offering increased support, especially to the extensive task user. It also uses a knitted back upholstery, tailored to fit over the frame of the chair.
IN SYNC is a mid-priced, handsome ergonomic task seat that is designed to be totally intuitive, has counterbalance technology, and is affordable. It leaves out a few of the bells and whistles of the high-end seats, but these are the ones that very few ever adjust. This is a seat that will be a very excellent solution for most, and the price-point makes it a product that one has to see.
The chair is also 98% recyclable, made of 21% recycled post-industrial material and will undergo LEED certification when the chair goes into production in June 2008.
