June 25, 2008—Jofco has introduced Tahke, a collection of modern casegoods for office environments. Recognized for producing quality crafted and smartly designed wood furniture for the multi-use workplace, Jofco expands its offerings with this flexible, modular, sustainable case good.
The company has also introduced My Desk from Frezza (Italy) to its line of desking and open plan products. My Desk is comprised of simple, rectilinear table desks, wall elements and storage units designed to be used in multiple settings.
Tahke, designed by Jhane Barnes, is a bamboo case good product that is completely green, says the company. Every detail, from wood species to glue, is sustainable. Tahke is freestanding furniture designed to suit diverse office aesthetics. The line includes rectangular single or double pedestal desks and bullet shaped desks; storage credenzas with or without knee spaces; and work surface storage towers that accommodate personal and media requirements.

Developed for longevity, Tahke starts with solid 3-ply and 5-ply vertical cross-core bamboo. The bamboo plywood is a no formaldehyde added product and offers hardness and durability qualities similar to oak, says the company. Exposed ply grain creates dramatic edge details. All panels are finished with a water-based clear coat.
Tahke casegoods are available in amber and natural, which are the natural bamboo color offerings. A meeting table is available in natural, amber and Neapolitan bamboo, which is a combination of natural and amber.
For My Desk, Frezza relied on long-time design partner Sergio Lion., on the creation of My Desk. Lion’s vision was to combine classic architectural elements with future trends in space planning and technology. Screen printing on overhead doors, lower storage units and cupboard panels open an array of customization options.
To make work stations more compact and address the needs of small offices, My Desk lower storage elements are used as support for table desks. These horizontal configurations create simple L-shape and U-shape stations for private areas, and multiple or double-sided stations for open areas. For more vertical configurations, table desks fit inside cupboards much like an extended shelf leaving the storage areas beneath the work surface and introducing binder storage above.
Table desks can stand alone or be combined to create collaborative work stations with or without privacy screens, small meeting areas or larger conference tables. Wire channels and spines create clean routing of cords under the work surface.
My Desk walls provide additional storage possibilities and applications, including sound dampening. This acoustic technology balances and reduces sound waves in public and private spaces.
Wall extrusions allow the attachment of table desks, secondary work surfaces, binder bins and shelves to carry the My Desk aesthetic throughout an entire office. Walls are available in four heights and extrusions are available in four spacing increments
My Desk series components are available in an array of finishes including 4 desk frame colors and 10 anti-reflection, wood-effect or solid color melamine. For overhead doors, lower storage elements and panels inside cupboards, Frezza also offers three artistic screen prints – Stripes, Squares, and Japan. Supplied artwork can also be supplied for highly customized screen printing.
