June 18, 2008— Teknion Corporation previewed its Expansion Desking line at its tenth-floor Merchandise Mart showroom during NeoCon, June 9-11, in Chicago.
“Expansion Desking is a contemporary, freestanding desking system that addresses todays workplace trend toward lower visual barriers and a more collaborative working environment,” says Jean-Paul Champagne, Director of Sales and Marketing.
“It offers improved wire and data management capabilities, new space division options, an extensive and refined storage collection, enhanced specification flexibility, and a contemporary aesthetic to excite the design community. Expansion Desking is all of this and more, at an extremely competitive price.”
New framed panel Elements, Freestanding Screens and storage components allow the creation of individual workstations and open-plan clusters to accommodate 42-inch-high planning to help companies achieve LEED-CI (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – Commercial Interiors) credits. Framed Elements and Freestanding Screens in clear and frosted glass options also contribute to the LEED-CI Daylight and Views category. The refined, cleaner look of these components contributes to Expansion Desking’s aesthetic.
The storage offering has also been greatly expanded, with many new components in 42-inch heights or that have been designed to work within the workstation to achieve the overall LEED privacy requirement. Storage includes towers, wardrobes, credenzas, lateral files, pedestals and bookcases. The use of storage towers, credenzas and pedestals to support or mount worksurfaces to increases specification flexibility.
Expansion Desking’s wire and data management system was redesigned to quickly, easily and cleanly accommodate the large amount of wiring typically required in larger, open-plan clusters, notes the company. A new beam keeps wiring simple while increasing capacity by up to 100 percent. Aesthetic enhancements include a new hinged electrical cover.
