NeoCon’09: KI’s Sela Lounge group offers functional seating for informal learning spaces

June 24, 2009—KI’s new Sela Lounge Collection offers a comfortable, durable and functional solution to encourage learning outside of the classroom, says the company. The collection, which combines style and affordability, was displayed at NeoCon World’s Trade Fair in mid-June.

The Sela Lounge Collection was developed in response to a need for college and university lounge seating that encourage non-traditional seating styles. Most colleges provide lounge furniture in many areas of campuses in hopes that students will engage in collaboration and learning outside of the classroom. Traditional lounge solutions developed for more formal business settings or even residential grade products are typically used to address this need. As a market leader in education solutions, KI recognized an opportunity to address students’ desire for a product that is comfortable, adaptable and stylish and also fits within an administration’s budget. Sela gives students the freedom to work, rest or actively engage with others comfortably, extending learning beyond the classroom.

Chairs in the Sela Lounge Collection feature a relaxed posture and larger size to meet these preferences. The reclined seat and back offer extra comfort and give students the option to sit sideways. The inside angles of the chair contribute to its wider dimension without adding overall width, enabling a range of sitting postures and room for a variety of activities, including writing and drawing. The Sela Lounge Collection also includes a tablet arm option for laptops or other accessories.

The Sela Lounge Collection’s residential style welcomes students. Its look is reminiscent of furnishings of a coffee shop or bookstore, yet transitional enough to complement many types of library, lounge or classroom interiors.
