Netfish and Deltek’s prototype system enables data exchange from previously incompatible sources

Netfish Technologies and Deltek Systems have joined forces to produce a prototype data exchange system that will enable architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) and facilities management professionals to exchange project management and financial information more efficiently using extensible-markup-language (XML) technology. The product is designed to expand AEC and FM firms’ capabilities for exchanging project critical data from previously incompatible sources, enabling them to analyze their information more effectively.

Netfish and Deltek have developed the prototype data exchange system in connection with their membership in the International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI), the leading industry organization responsible for establishing the definitive aecXML standards and Industry Foundation Classes (IFCs). According to the IAI, these standards, which are crucial for interoperability, will enable organizations to use their existing software applications to send, receive, access, and retrieve virtually any type of project document or transactional data.

The prototype will show how XML technology can extract critical financial and contract data from a project management system and automatically deliver that data to an accounting system as new items. For more information call Deltek at 800/456-2009 in the US, and +44 (0) 20 7518 5010 in the UK.
