March 31, 2006—BOMA’s Guide to Writing a Commercial Lease gives building owners advice on negotiating, and walks readers through the complex language of today’s leases, says BOMA International.
The association’s new guide has hundreds of easy-to-read side notes that provide answers and suggestions to the toughest lease topics, BOMA says. New sections on the Patriot Act and telecommunications are emphasized.
The guide includes three documents: a model form prime lease agreement, a model form guaranty of lease, and a model form sublease. The documents have been written to stand alone but can easily be used in any combination or as a complete set of three if necessary.
Additionally, a CD-ROM is provided with modifiable copies of the lease, sub-lease and guaranty of lease. When used in conjunction with the Lease Guide, and appropriate legal advice when necessary, these documents provide excellent tools for both landlords and tenants in lease negotiations, says BOMA.
The guide, expected to be available in mid-April, can be pre-ordered on the BOMA Web site. The price is $52.50 for nonmembers, $36.75 for members.
