November 17, 2006—The new Caterpillar 904B Compact Wheel Loader offers the versatility of a skid steer loader and the power, comfort, and fuel economy of a wheel loader, according to Cat Rental Power. The 904B features a skid steer loader quick coupler, high flow hydraulics, and powerful Z-bar linkage in a package that is only 7ft. 10in. (2.4 meters) tall and uses a bucket less than 6ft. (1.8 meters) wide.
Replacing the Cat 902, the competitively priced new loader offers 52 net horsepower (39kW), about 15 percent more power than the previous model, says the company. Operating weight is 9,810 lb. (4 450 kg), and the standard bucket capacity is 0.78 cubic meters.
For easy of service, ground level access is easy due to the high opening, tilt-up enclosure and side service doors. All major components and service points can be safely accessed from the ground. Lube points of major components are centralized, and the hydraulic service interval is extended to 2,000 hours under normal working conditions.
