October 1, 2001—MGE UPS Systems introduces its new Comet 40 kVA Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to its Comet family. The new three-phase Comet offers the advantage of a centralized power source while allowing individual control of servers over the network. The Comet is geared for facility networks, process control, and other critical networks demanding very high efficiency such as those used in the healthcare, financial, and insurance industries.
The on-line design of the microprocessor-based Comet UPS with its advanced solid-state circuitry ensures clean, reliable power even in the harshest electrical environments, with input-to-output efficiency ratings as high as 95 percent. MGE points out that the Comet delivers true sine wave output that offers superior isolation and power correction. This high level UPS efficiency not only ensures superior power quality, it also can result in annual electrical energy savings that totals thousands of dollars (equivalent to the cost of the UPS over five years). MGE’s 40 kVA – 150 kVA Comet UPS family delivers power protection and power conditioning, while setting a new industry performance standard by offering up to 95% efficiency, says MGE. The Comet UPS system consists of a solid-state inverter, rectifier/battery charger, a continuous duty static switch, and internal maintenance bypass switch and battery plant with Advanced Battery Management.
