October 6, 2003—IMSI, a developer of visual content, design, and business applications software, has released the DesignCAD v.14 line of products. The new releases include DesignCAD 3D Max Plus, DesignCAD 3D Max, and DesignCAD 3D Express. These products combine 3D modeling with 2D drafting. They also come with free e-mail technical support.
The DesignCAD 3D Max Plus product differs from 3D Max in that it includes a suite of complimentary CAD add-ons, including Instant Estimator for quickly and accurately estimating the cost of building; ScanPro, scanning software that easily allows conversion of paper drawings to DesignCAD files and DXF file formats; and Instant CAD Symbols, a collection of thousands of 2D and 3D CAD symbols. Both 3D Max and 3D Max Plus also include a training CD-ROM.
All DesignCAD titles feature context sensitive help and controls. New quick access menus are available through right mouse-click support. Easy editing is possible through a detailed information box that allows the user to copy properties from one object to another. Context sensitive inspector bars automatically bring relevant controls and properties to the front for selected tools and objects. Context sensitive Quick Tips provide hints and tips. Pre-defined symbols can be dragged and dropped into drawings, diagrams, and charts.
