New Dyson hand dryer uses less energy, cleans air

January 24, 2007—Dyson has announced a “revolutionary” new hand drying system whose trade unveiling will take place at the UK’s Interbuild 2007 in October in the form of The Dyson Airblade.

Powered by Dyson’s long-life, low-energy digital motor, the Dyson Airblade uses a high-velocity sheet of air to effectively wipe hands dry in just 10 seconds, using up to 83% less energy than conventional electric dryers, says the company.

According to Dyson, the filtration technology removes bacteria and mold from the air, and the system itself is made with anti-microbial agents to reduce surface bacteria.
