April 8, 2005—FM Solutions has added functionality to its WorkOasis contractor management technology platform, creating a system that can help corporations reduce the liability associated with certifying and managing large numbers of suppliers, the company says.
In response to heightened awareness created by the $11 million judgment against Wal-Mart on March 18 for alleged use of illegal workers, WorkOasis released a contractor certification application that documents compliance to OSHA, EPA, EEOC and Employment laws, including the verification of employment eligibility.
The application works by a corporation requiring its contractors to register on the WorkOasis website. WorkOasis acts as an independent third party and provides a centrally hosted application for the contractor to enter information regarding liability insurance, workers compensation, business licenses, and compliance to Federal OSHA, EPA, EEOC and Employment law. WorkOasis charges the contractor an annual certification fee and provides the corporate client with free work order management software for processing service transactions.
