Stress-related illness is responsible for the loss of 6.5 million working days each year in the UK, costing employers around 370 million and society as a whole as much as 3.75 billion. An estimated half a million people in Britain are suffering from work-related stress, anxiety, or depression at levels that make them ill.
Published June 2001, Tackling work-related stress: a managers’ guide to improving and maintaining employee health and well-being is for managers in organizations employing over 50 people. The guide outlines employers’ statutory obligations and provides a step-by-step approach to help identify who is at risk, how to prevent problems from occurring.
