January 10, 2003—Oblix, a developer of identity-based security solutions, has announced that the state of New Mexico has selected Oblix NetPoint to deliver Web access and enterprise identity management capabilities throughout the various government agencies within the state and for all residents accessing the state’s portal.
The state of New Mexico will deploy Oblix NetPoint to enable its employees and citizens to access an inter-agency state portal. Using Oblix NetPoint, the state of New Mexico now has a cost-effective and secure way to move their critical business systems and applications online to provide convenient access to information. For example, the state will provide services to its constituents via the portal, including online motor vehicle registration renewal. Additionally, employees from multiple government agencies within the state can access numerous systems via one secure portal, allowing them to share information and collaborate across agencies.
In choosing an identity management and access control system, the state of New Mexico evaluated technologies based on key criteria including scalability, cost-effectiveness, and deployment time. Additionally, features such as secure Web single sign-on across legacy and new applications, user self-registration, and self-service were key components of the evaluation criteria. The state of New Mexico also needed a system that would automate the process of approving additions and changes to user identity information as more of the state’s employees and residents come online. Oblix NetPoint with COREid(TM) was the solution best able to meet these requirements, while also helping to decrease the state of New Mexico’s Internet infrastructure costs.
