New OSHA pages focus on whistleblower program

August 16, 2004—OSHA has launched The Whistleblower Program Web page to provide a single source for obtaining detailed information on the laws with “whistleblower” protections that are administered by OSHA. It consolidates information on workplace discrimination complaint filing procedures, and includes links to the 14 laws with whistleblower protections administered by the agency and to five separate OSHA fact sheets on the whistleblower program, and lists the regulations governing the procedures for handling complaints under the various statutes.

To help ensure that employees are free to participation in safety and health activities, OSHA regulations prohibit any person from discharging or in any manner discriminating against any employee because the employee has exercised rights to complain to OSHA and seek and participate in an OSHA inspection.

OSHA has also launched a Hispanic Employers and Workers Web page to provide access to OSHA’s compliance assistance resources for Hispanic employers and workers. Although this site includes links to Spanish-language resources, it is intended primarily for English-speaking and bilingual users. For OSHA’s Spanish-language site, visit OSHA en Espaol
