September 26, 2007—A new paint that lasts twice as long as other coatings and does not fade is being introduced in the United States by DDK Industries, Inc., of Los Angeles, under its new Opera Paints brand.
The product, Opera Silicon Quarzo Paint, offers unparalleled advantages over other paints on the market, according to Michael G. Kahn, DDK Industries Chief Executive Officer. “Besides its long life and color fastness, the Opera Silicon Quarzo meets strict environmental standards, emitting near-zero Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs),” he said. “It is also resistant to grime, pollution and severe weather, has strong adhesive qualities, even on difficult surfaces, and furthermore, it’s breathable.”
Opera Paints are manufactured by Di Donato SpA, the fourth largest paint manufacturer in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. Di Donato also is a major shareholder of DDK Industries.
Opera Silicon Quarzo paint is offered in an array of colors and all draw on the technology of Silicon Resin Emulsion Paints. Silicon based paint in various forms has been applied to buildings throughout Europe for years. “Now, this breakthrough technology is available in the US market,” Kahn said.
The Silicon Quarzo paints along with the complete line of Opera exterior and interior paints will make their formal debut in the North American retail market in October. Opera paints will retail for $60-70 per gallon.
The Opera product lineup includes a full line of interior coatings in an array of striking colors plus other exterior products, such as Limewash. They will be sold through a network of distributors to selective paint stores, general and painting contractors, architects and architectural colorists, Kahn said.
