October 3, 2007—Mapei is increasing its presence in the wood-flooring installation industry with the introduction of Planiseal WFM, a wood-flooring membrane that reduces moisture vapor emission from concrete substrates, says the company.
Planiseal WFM reduces problems associated with moisture that can seep through the concrete and ruin glue-down wood-flooring installations, according to the company.
Planiseal WFM gives the additional benefit of in-plane crack isolation up to 1/8-inch (3 mm), which can reduce flooring installation failures due to the transfer of underlying cracks caused by contraction and expansion of the concrete substrate. This product also serves as a sound-reduction membrane, with a Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating of 66 and an Impact Insulation Class (IIC) rating of 69.
Planiseal WFM is also LEED-compliant and helps to contribute points toward LEED-certified projects. For more information, see the Mapei Web site.
