November 24, 2006—Visser Software Services, Inc. has announced the release of ShowRack 4.0, a Web-enabled, data center management solution for real-time, graphical views of data center rack plans and elevations that enables trouble-free maintenance, upgrades and installations.
This latest version of ShowRack 4.0 incorporates the latest Windows-based database to drive Flash Web graphics that display visual information on infrastructure assets, says the company.
ShowRack 4.0 lowers customer cost by providing broad access to information about assets to those involved with IT provisioning throughout their organizations. It builds on the application’s strength as a tool for planning layouts and installations in local and remote sites, simplifying deployment and facilitating rapid and effective troubleshooting.
Visser Software’s clients include Citigroup, Internal Revenue Service, Merck, MetLife, The New York Stock Exchange, Polo-Ralph Lauren, the US Army, American International Group, American Express, and Union Bank of Switzerland.
The ShowRack application dynamically creates rack elevations based on information in the server database, shows details such as port location and use, and displays how servers are located in relation to each other, says Visser. Heat, power and virtual servers are among the dynamic data elements tracked and reported.
Links to financial and maintenance information, contained in leading facilities and real property management software platform ARCHIBUS/FM, let managers easily generate reports that track inventories and the value of hardware assets for planning and budgeting purposes.
